Introduction

NeuroPilates™ is a movement system that blends traditional Pilates with current neuroscience principles by targeting the brain for better health, movement and performance.The aims and teachings of the method are to bring about a more current type of Pilates that is in line with the remarkable advances in neuroscience and brain research.

This 6 month Diploma will teach you all about the brain, the neurology of base level movement and how to structure and theme your classes to target specific parts of the brain. You will also learn some in-depth neurological assessments that go beyond biomechanics to assess your clients overall health and wellbeing and most importantly, you will learn what to do about it!

This Diploma is accredited by Reps UK and Reps UAE and is an Active IQ course with the extra Neural units as an add on.



Entry Requirements

  • Some experience of Pilates classes is highly recommended.
  • The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a certain amount of physical activity is necessary.
  • Students who are already in the fitness industry and have done anatomy and physiology before must do an Active IQ mock exam and pass to be able to skip this course. All students new to the industry must do anatomy and physiology as a pre-requisite.
  • There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level.

Unit 1

Brain-based Fitness

In this course you will learn cutting edge information from the world of neuroscience and how it applies in a practical way to training, health and overall well being.

 An Introduction to Functional Neurology and it’s application to pain, posture, movement and performance.- Neurological assessments to identify which parts of the brain are under performing or over performing and why. - Corrective Postural and Rehabilitation drills to stimulate the brain through movement. - Visual, Vestibular and Proprioceptive tests and how they integrate in the brain. - How to achieve optimal brain health through movement and sensory matching. - How to fuel the brain with better breathing patterns. - Releasing the diaphragm, assessing the biggest 3 breathing pattern dysfunctions and how to correct them.

Unit 2

The Original Pilates repertoire

This course offers a dynamic, integrative approach to the art of teaching and practicing Pilates. You will learn the original classical moves as well as their adaptations and modifications over time.

Drawing together different styles and approaches to Pilates, this multi-faceted training gives trainees the opportunity to learn from the best of all methods. Unit 4

Neural assessments and programming

In this course we will be focusing on private sessions as opposed to group classes. You will learn how to take a detailed history of your client, conduct a series of in-depth assessments including dynamic posture, gait analysis, brain tests, movement screen as well as balance, vision and breathing tests. You will also learn associated corrective exercises and suggestions to be able to instantly make decisions based on your clients’ biofeedback.
